Who is Hilda?

Hey there! I'm Hilda, the writer behind "Food for Bark." Growing up, my life was a whirlwind of paws and wagging tails, thanks to my Border Collie, Labrador Retriever, Australian Shepherd, Husky, Jack Russel, and German Shepherd.

There's something about dogs, isn't there? Their pure hearts, the way they look at you without a hint of judgment, even when life gets messy. They're the epitome of unconditional love, unlike humans who sometimes can't help but pass judgment. Seriously, if you were to fart in an elevator, your dog will fart with you, but humans will give you an angry stare.

What I find most fascinating is how dogs connect with us without needing words. They speak in barks, whines, and a whole lot of body language, yet we understand each other perfectly. But as any dog owner knows, with great love comes great responsibility, especially when it comes to their diet.

Take my toy Aussie and Jack Russel, for example. I used to feed them the same food, but no amount of exercise could keep my Aussie from becoming a bit chubby. That's when it hit me: different breeds, different needs. This realization sent me down a rabbit hole of research, trial and error, and a whole lot of taste tests (for the dogs, not me!).

We haven't perfected it yet, but boy, have I learned a lot. From grain versus grain-free diets to the ins and outs of raw feeding, it's been an eye-opener. It's not just about grabbing a bag of food from big brands like Pedigree. Each dog is unique, and their diet needs to reflect that. It's a fascinating puzzle that keeps me hooked.

I used to share all these insights with my dog-loving friends, but then I thought, why not go bigger? So, I started a blog to share my discoveries and experiences with a wider audience. If you pop over to "Food for Bark," you'll not only get a scoop of doggy diet tips but also a taste of my, let's say, unique perspective on life. I hope it's a fun and entertaining read for fellow dog enthusiasts out there!
